Abstract. Low-code and no-code (LCNC) platforms are gaining importance in organizations because they accelerate solution development, enable business unit involvement, and reduce pressure on IT departments. Despite relevance, research on critical success factors (CSFs) for LCNC adoption remains fragmented. This paper addresses this gap through a systematic literature review. Fifty-one peer reviewed publications identified through a database-supported search were analyzed; from these, 145 raw CSFs were extracted. These CSFs were consolidated into 25 CSFs, grouped into eight thematic clusters. The results confirm that LCNC adoption is a multi-stage process shaped not only by technological factors but also by organizational, strategic, and operational conditions. Governance-related CSFs highlight the importance of balancing decentralized development freedom with requirements for security, quality, and compliance. Overall, the findings support a socio-technical understanding of LCNC adoption and provide a foundation for research and practice.
